What is my name( it’s Bosnian ) short for?
My name is Dado which is sort of a nickname for a longer name? I’ve eet a couple Bosanci with it ,and even a girl people would call Dado. I googled it and got a Croatian Soccer Player , and some mexican singer so yea…I tried
Anyone know what its orignal form was ?

Ohh yea my dad’s friends is a Bos. Croatian so I think thats it
Dado is usually a nickname used for the name Damir which means Heart. It can also be used for any other Bosnian name starting with D.
As for a girl getting called Dado. Her nickname is usually Dada but as you might know when Bosnians are addressing someone or something ending with the letter ‘a’ they usually like to end it with an ‘o’

Edit: haha amore? Na Lana I wrote heart because that’s what it is. The name Damir just like many other Bosnian Muslim names isn’t of Bosnian origin but Arabic. And in Arabic it translates into Heart or Conscience. But in many cases Bosniaks tend to shorten these Muslim names and in effect it gives the name a unique Bosnian identity.
For example:
Mustafa = Mujo
Hussein = Huso
Mehmed = Meho
Ibrahim = Ibro
Adnan = Ado/Adi
Bajrudin = Bajro
and so on.
