As a coach, responsibility of formulating drills during practice sessions is a requisite in every training session. Body Control: Let’s face it challenging someone who is bigger than you will put pressure on your game play. Controlling the body is an important skill that players should learn. Instead of being the one who is pressured by a defender, put pressure on the defender instead by showing immeasurable control over your body in the field by cleverly creating plays that might trick the defender towards the goal.
The question; How would you guarantee that this skill can be easily taught by the team players? Special trainings can be done during a practice run. In this activity, players must push something heavy behind their backs into their shorts. Each player must play with an heavy object pulling them down playing. With this exercise, players will feel the lightness of their weight which does not require the ball yet.
Maintaining the ball through your possession: This drill could be the hardest because you’ll need to make your players versatile in different positions. You’ll have to guide them to form a circle and you will be in the middle observing any movement of the ball. The purpose of this drill is to maintain the ball and should not fall down and it must remain in the air under your possession. Before the warm up sessions, you’ll have to group them in big groups in order to execute this drill. The benefit of this drill is to help them focus and coordinate with the other team members.
Coordination: One of the important soccer skills is to coordinate and react immediately to make a play. Tell your team mates to make plays effectively by giving hand gestures or signals. A coach must instruct one player to make plays at random and thrust the ball to the right player near the goal. This player will then respond swiftly to charge the ball to the goal.
